This guide gives an overview of the information that is important for individuals and communities to know and understand about Earth’s climate, the impacts of climate change, and solutions. Principles in the guide can serve as discussion-starters or launching points for learning about the climate crisis and what’s being done to address it across the world.

This guide was originally published by the U.S. Global Change Research Program in 2024. It was the product of 2 years of work by 60+ people from 30 federal agencies. It was released by the White House in September 2024 at New York Climate Week and hosted on NOAA’s climate.gov website.
In February 2025, NOAA removed the guide, first partially, then in full, in response to the DEI executive orders. The words that were flagged were “justice”, “equity”, and “gender identity”. The version hosted on this site is an uncensored copy.
